Bakin' 5: Bookiemonster's Picks for NFL Week 7

Updated: Dec 3, 2022

Bakin' 5 is my take on Colin Cowherd's Blazin' 5. Every Friday, Cowherd announces his Blazin' 5 picks on his FS1 show, The Herd. The sports media personality selects his five favorite NFL bets of the week. On Bakin' 5, I'll post our selections.

Let's bake it up.

Colin Cowherd likes the Bengals +6.5, the Panthers -2.5, the Eagles +3, the Buccaneers -12.5, and Niners -4. I like the Bengals +6.5, the Dolphins +2.5, the Buccaneers -11.5, the Texans +18, and the Colts +4.5.

Here's why.

On Cincinnati (+6.5) vs Baltimore:

This is more of a fade on Baltimore than it is a buy on Cincinnati. If the Ravens fell to Chiefs, Lions, or Colts, would they be catching nearly a touchdown against an ascending Bengals team? This line doesn't make much sense to me. Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase keep the Bengals within a touchdown.

On Atlanta vs Miami (+2.5):

Last week, this game was Miami -2.5. Now, it's Atlanta -2.5. I know the Dolphins lost to the lowly Jaguars, but Atlanta shouldn't be laying points on the road here. Look to tease up on Miami. Give me the ugly home dog.

On Chicago vs Tampa Bay (-11.5):

This is a bad matchup for Chicago. Tampa Bay has a stout run defense and a vulnerable pass defense. Chicago has barely thrown the ball downfield with Fields and must run to win. Tom Brady and the Bucs light up the scoreboard and cover the big spread.

On Houston (+18) vs Arizona:

This spread screams backdoor cover to me. Arizona is coming off an impressive road victory and could be overlooking the lowly Texans this week. Arizona plays Green Bay next Thursday. I expect Arizona to race out to a quick lead in the first half and then slow the game down in the second half. Arizona wins comfortably, but Houston covers.

On Indianapolis (+4.5) vs San Francisco:

Ignore the 2-4 record. The Colts have played a brutal schedule so far. Indianapolis has looked good over the last three weeks. Carson Wentz has protected the football, and Jonathan Taylor has been a beast in the ground game. Expect strong winds and rainy conditions in San Francisco on Sunday night. I think the weather definitely favors the Colts over the Niners. Give me Indianapolis catching the points.

Season Scoreboard:

Cowherd's Blazin' 5: 12-19 (39%)

Bookiemonster's Bakin' 5: 14-11 (56%)
