Bakin' 5 is my take on Colin Cowherd's Blazin' 5. Every Friday, Cowherd announces his Blazin' 5 picks on his FS1 show, The Herd. The sports media personality selects his five favorite NFL bets of the week. On Bakin' 5, I'll post our selections.
Let's bake it up.
Colin Cowherd likes the Ravens -2.5, Lions +3.5, Browns -3.5, Patriots +3.5, and Steelers -5.5. I like the Jaguars +3, Lions +3.5, Browns -3, Packers -5.5, and Bills -5.5.
Here's why.
On Miami vs Jacksonville (+3):
These teams suck. In the matchup of terrible teams, give me the terrible team catching points. If Jacksonville can avoid the costly turnovers and actually make a field goal, they could win this game outright. Expect a huge game from James Robinson. I don't think Tua is a major improvement over Brissett, so the QB change doesn't bother me. Hold your nose, and take the Jags +3.
On Cincinnati vs Detroit (+3.5):
This Detroit team is gritty. I'm not ready to trust Cincinnati laying more than a field goal. They've had the second easiest schedule in the league so far. Detroit, on the other hand, has had a brutal schedule and should get into the win column soon. I think the Lions can win this game outright.
On Arizona vs Cleveland (-3):
Like it? I love it. Arizona is banged up. Kyler is not 100%. Jones, Hudson, and Williams are out. Expect the Browns to run all over this Arizona rush defense. I like the spot here for Cleveland. Arizona is not as good as their record indicates, and the Cleveland defense will look to bounce back after an ugly performance against the Chargers. Bet the Browns. This is a Bookiemonster Gold pick.
***I have Cleveland listed at -3 because I tweeted out earlier in the week that this was a Bakin' 5 pick at -3.***
On Green Bay (-5.5) vs Chicago:
Not getting the best of the number, but that's okay. Anything under 6 looks good to me. Rodgers vs Fields. The Bears look extremely limited on offense with Fields. To cover the spread, the Bears need a low-scoring game. I expect the Packers to find more success in the redzone and in the kicking game this week. Back the Pack.
On Buffalo (-5.5) vs Tennessee:
I know this will be a very public play, but I don't care. Josh Allen will shred this Titans defense. Tennessee allowed 454 yards of offense to the lowly Jags last week. Imagine what OC Brian Daboll will scheme up against this atrocious pass defense. Take the Bills to cover anything under 6. It's a Monday Night Football game, so don't expect a letdown performance. Buffalo avenges their Week 5 loss to Tennessee from last season.
Season Scoreboard:
Cowherd's Blazin' 5: 11-15 (42%)
Bookiemonster's Bakin' 5: 12-8 (60%)
